AT&T want's to buy T-Mobile with 39 billion

In USA, monday brought many surprising news when the world's biggest mobile operator AT&T told their plan to buy T-Mobiles U.S. Title with 39 billion dollars.

If the transaction would be done, Verizon and AT&T would have nearly 80% share of the U.S. mobile phone market. Authorities may prevent the transaction, and complaints about the transaction will definitely be in record numbers.

AT&T, Verizon or T-Mobile? Choose yours.

  1. Hopefully the sale is stopped, I don't think it'd end up being a good thing eventually..

  2. Well, here in Italy a couple of years ago almost all the phone market was in the hand of two big companies.

Luckily there are now other "little" phone companies trying to "steal" their own market share from the big ones. That caused a general lowering of the price for the phone calls.

    p.s.: nice blog, I'll follow ;)

  4. My wife was on T-mobile, then left it to go to AT&T so she could get an iPhone. I doubt that the FTC would let the merger go through, as it may lead to AT&T holding too large of a portion of the cellular market.

  7. I hope this deal doesn't go through. T-Mobile has a much better track record than AT&T, and let's hope they don't get swallowed up by them. Monopoly much?

  8. The more competition the better. So I'd say no to this.

  10. I would hate for this to happen, this is as close as you can get to a Monopoly in the US, especially in an industry as large as mobile phones. If those two companies have a 80% share of the market you can bet they'll collude and run up the prices to make more money. Here's hoping the US stops the deal.

  15. The question I have is why AT&T had 30 billion sitting around and didn't invest it in their own network rather than buying TMobile
