In USA, monday brought many surprising news when the world's biggest mobile operator AT&T told their plan to buy T-Mobiles U.S. Title with 39 billion dollars.
If the transaction would be done, Verizon and AT&T would have nearly 80% share of the U.S. mobile phone market. Authorities may prevent the transaction, and complaints about the transaction will definitely be in record numbers.
AT&T, Verizon or T-Mobile? Choose yours.
Hopefully the sale is stopped, I don't think it'd end up being a good thing eventually..
ReplyDeleteWell, here in Italy a couple of years ago almost all the phone market was in the hand of two big companies.
ReplyDeleteLuckily there are now other "little" phone companies trying to "steal" their own market share from the big ones. That caused a general lowering of the price for the phone calls.
p.s.: nice blog, I'll follow ;)
thats a lot of billions :\
ReplyDeletescrew at and t
ReplyDeletei dont live in USA so i dont really have opinion. still, it's big money
ReplyDeleteMy wife was on T-mobile, then left it to go to AT&T so she could get an iPhone. I doubt that the FTC would let the merger go through, as it may lead to AT&T holding too large of a portion of the cellular market.
ReplyDeleteAT&T has millions just laying around.. why don't they improve their network? Baffles me..
ReplyDeleteVerizon is where it's at.
ReplyDeleteI hope this deal doesn't go through. T-Mobile has a much better track record than AT&T, and let's hope they don't get swallowed up by them. Monopoly much?
ReplyDeleteAT&T sorry Verizon.
ReplyDeleteThe more competition the better. So I'd say no to this.
ReplyDeleteAgreed this may bve a bad thing for the consumer, more competition the better i say.
ReplyDeleteI would hate for this to happen, this is as close as you can get to a Monopoly in the US, especially in an industry as large as mobile phones. If those two companies have a 80% share of the market you can bet they'll collude and run up the prices to make more money. Here's hoping the US stops the deal.
ReplyDeleteI've been using AT&T almost all of my life and never had a problem with them. The only place I never got service was my friends basement.
ReplyDeleteI choose you, verizon!
ReplyDeleteI chose AT&T, T-mobile is too expensive!
ReplyDeleteHope they don't just for monopolizing businesses sake.
ReplyDeletewell it's all about the innovating
ReplyDeleteWell, I'm in Spain, so this doesn't really affect me...
ReplyDeleteThe question I have is why AT&T had 30 billion sitting around and didn't invest it in their own network rather than buying TMobile
ReplyDeleteThat's a lot of money :o
ReplyDeleteNice post as always.
I have a huge problem with this really hate when companies try to monopolize their markets.
ReplyDeleteVerizon all the way- everything else has been terrible for me :\
ReplyDeletewow wat a massive money, for 39 billion i say go ahead sell lol supported
ReplyDeleteMonopoly in this industry is NEVER a good thing.
ReplyDeletethat would suck:S
ReplyDeleteI live in Australia, and I'm with Optus. They're awesome. Not good when they over-charge you though. =/
ReplyDeleteI hate Tmobile! Meh... as long as my bill doesn't go up.... whatever :)
ReplyDeleteFollowed!
i don't think this trade will be a good thing, but it also shouldn't effect me much.
ReplyDeleteso far as i am concerned, they can do whatever. interesting stuff tho
ReplyDeleteI used to have AT&T and now have TMobile. TMo is definitely better for service.
